Garden Hills

Brookwood Hills

Established in 1922, Brookwood Hills is a picturesque neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places. The streets follow the hilly terrain, rather than a grid, creating winding, tree-lined streets dotted with historic homes. It’s an “Olmsted style” planned suburb with signature curvilinear streets, parks and emphasis on nature. A relaxing respite full of manicured lawns and picturesque landscape great for a Sunday drive.

The centrally located park and recreation area and long standing civic organizations create a strong community. The neighborhood-owned Brookwood Hills Community Club covers 5 acres of land and includes a park, pool, pavilions, tennis courts and basketball goals. Neighbors gather year-round to enjoy sponsored events like the Halloween Party, Fourth of July parade, annual Easter egg hunt and dog swim (end of swim season, of course). The non-profit Garden Club promotes a “mutual interest in the preservation and beautification” of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood hosts an exclusive tour of homes that only occurs every other year in April. The biennial event is a fundraiser for the Brookwood Hills Friends group with proceeds supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The 2019 “History Reimagined” tour showcased homes renovated with 21st century enhancements and modern houses that incorporated period designs.

There’s tons of restaurants, galleries and shopping within walking distance along Peachtree St, the main corridor between the highrises of Buckhead and Midtown. Piedmont Hospital and quick freeway access to I-75 and I-85 are also nearby.
